10+2 is the minimum eligibility to apply for these programs. Intake for these programs happens through an all India Entrance examination that is conducted separately by these participating universities. A student needs to successfully clear the exams and meet norms for him to secure an admission for any of his preferred courses with the respective college. For Pg and above a student has to complete a degree consisting of minimum 3 years from a Govt Recognized University

The cost of a Bachelors program in Design offered by these colleges would be in the approx. range of 3.5 lakh to 7 lakh (per year). There are no standards here as apart from the National level Colleges such as NID/NIF/IIT majority of the colleges belong to the category of Autonomous colleges with Deemed to be University status. These universities self-decide on the Admission process and fees. Components in the total cost of study include: Tuition fees, Hostel fees, Mess fees, Stationeries, Deposits etc.

Education loan is provided to all students for the purpose of study who meets requirements as laid down by the particular bank. Institutions such as NID/NIFT/IIT do have pre qualified loan facilities with National banks for students who have successfully cleared the exams and secured admission letters. Autonomous Universities also have loan arrangement facilities with both National /Private Banks.

There are 3 options in general for a candidate who successfully clears the course. Apart from the placements offered by the particular colleges in MNCs , we in this period are also witnessing students initiating interest in joining start-ups. Many of the students start their career at an Asst managerial level with salaries ranging from 3 lakh per annum to 7 lakhs. Also, design is a hands-on profession. It takes a person 7 years to be called a professional as a thumb rule. Openness for learning is a positive attitude that is required for one to progress in this industry.

We would always suggest someone to work for a period of 2 years post academics before he decides to continue with his education. There are several specializations one can do either in Masters or on a PHD level in Design. Since design is a dynamic industry we would suggest a person to choose a discipline relevant at that point of time while deciding his further course of academic study.
