2017 has seen NID (National Institute of Design) the premier Design institute in our country witnessing more global companies flocking for Design professionals. The number of recruiters has gone up by nearly 50 percent compared with last year (as reported by DNA).The campus saw more than 100 companies from various segments of the Economy. The placement tends to focus on full time recruitment and Graduation Project. One of the popular news that was reported by a premier online news agency was the participation from the Global premium car manufacture company Rolls Royce. The company first time in the placement process with NID (National Institute of Design) will be here to hunt for creative talent in the areas of Interactive Design, Information Design and Graphic Design. The other sectors include FMCG ( Fast Moving Consumer Goods) , Automotive, Textile, Apparel ,Gaming, IT, Life style, Education, Jewellery, Baggage, Electronics, Advertising, Tv& Entertainment, Furniture , Start-up Etc. The campus witnessed the flow of 47 companies on day 1 and is expecting 45 &19 companies on day 2 and three.

The year 2016, witnessed close to 100 firms who came for placements on campus making close to 300 job offers, including full time placements and graduation projects. Samsung R&D Bengaluru was the highest recruiter to have made 22 offers. Among the other firms who made the job offers were IBM –India, Microsoft, TCS who took 5 students each with UI/UX in demand by IT led firms. The year also showed a spurt in jobs for Industrial designers, Product designers and for students of Information & Interactive design. Ludhiana based, Trident group in 2015, a leading home textile producer, offered an Rs 72 lakh –Pay Package to a NID Post graduate student. Eight students from textile design also bagged pay packages of 48 lakh each.

Multi- Disciplinary seems to be the mantra for companies when it seeks talent. Fashion houses and production firms are some of the new verticals to join the new NID placement bandwagon
