Hello. I am currently pursuing the course Bachelor of Design (Textile Design) at NID Bengaluru. I took the NID long-term coaching and cleared the NID entrance exam.

In my experience, NID is an exam that requires creativity. This is something that cannot be taught to someone. At Mad School, their way of teaching brings out the creativity in your work. They don’t teach how to be creative, instead, they do activities that spark the creativity in you.

I would say that coaching is required for NID, especially coaching that brings out the creative side in you and your work.

What role does Mad School play in your NID coaching?

NID ENTRANCE EXAM 2024

ABOUT NID ENTRANCE EXAM:

The National Institute of Design (NID) entrance exam is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the NID for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate design courses. The exam is held in two phases: the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and the Studio Test. They are also called NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains.

The NID DAT is a multiple-choice test that assesses the candidate's aptitude for design. It covers topics such as spatial visualization, creativity, and problem-solving. The NID Studio Test is a practical test that assesses the candidate's skills in sketching, drawing, and conceptualization.

ELIGIBILITY:

The eligibility criteria for the NID Entrance Exam are as follows:

For undergraduate courses:

• Minimum age of 17 years on the 1st day of July of the year of admission.
• 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

For postgraduate courses:

• Minimum age of 21 years on the 1st day of July of the year of admission.
• Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

NID ENTRANCE EXAM PROCESS 2024

1. Fill out the NID 2024 application form 📜

3. Attend the NID DAT Prelims Exam 🖊️
4. Result Day for NID DAT Prelims Exam 😀
5. If qualified, Attend the NID DAT Mains Exam ✏️

7. Apply for NID Colleges and appear for the counseling process📍

NID DAT PRELIMS & MAINS

NID DAT Prelims

• It is the first round of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT).
• It is a written test that consists of both objective and subjective questions.
• The exam is 3 hours long and carries a total of 100 marks.
  • For the B.Des program, the NID Prelims carries a weightage of 50%.
  • For the M.Des program, the NID Prelims carries a weightage of 30%.
• The objective questions in the NID Prelims test the candidate's knowledge of design principles, concepts, and techniques.
• The subjective questions test the candidate's creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate their ideas visually.

Mad School provides coaching for NID DAT B.Des and NID DAT M.Des preparation separately.

NID DAT Mains

• Studio Test:
  • This is the second round of the NID entrance exam for B.Des students.
  • It is a practical assessment that is conducted offline.
  • The students will be given a set of tasks to complete in a given time.
  • The tasks may include sketching, drawing, or modeling.
  • The Studio Test is designed to assess the student's creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical skills.
• Personal Interview:
  • This is the second round of the NID entrance exam for M.Des students.
  • It is an interview conducted by a panel of experts.
  • The interview is designed to assess the student's personality, motivation, and goals.
  • The student may be asked questions about their design portfolio, their work experience, or their reasons for wanting to study at NID.

Mad School provides coaching for the Studio test and NID DAT exam separately. Along with this, we have mock interviews with tips to attend the personal interview.

Students who wish to attend only the NID Mains coaching are welcome.
