All about JEE Mains paper 2( B Arch) – 2020

Hi Guys,

Hope your JEE 2 paper for the first attempt went well. I am penning this article based on the popular demand with an objective of bridging the knowledge deficiency towards many a query that I have received especially in the areas towards counselling process, college ratings and cut off percentage. Well, let’s initiate addressing one by one:-

Counselling Process – JEE Paper 2( B Arch)

The counselling for JEE -2 for 2020 will be conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for JEE -2 qualified candidates

JoSAA: The fraternity is responsible for Common seat allocation admission process for:-

    • 23 IIT (Indian Institute of Technology )
    • 31 NIT ( National Institute of Technology )
    • 25 IIIT
    • 28 GFTI ( Government-funded Technical Institutes)
    • IIEST

The counselling is expected to begin by the second week of June 2020. Candidates as a first step have to visit the JoSAA web site further registration and counselling process.

Kindly Note: Candidates who do not participate in the counselling process shall not be eligible for admissions towards any of the aforesaid colleges/ Institutions mentioned above. A timely visit towards visiting the website shall help you in timely submission.

The counselling consists of 7 rounds of seat allotment which starts from 3 rd. week of June to 3rd week of July. All candidates are expected to check for results by regularly visiting the JoSAA web site.

Schedule Includes: ( Allotments/Application)

    • Commencement of JoSAA Application: 2nd week, June
    • Mock seat allocation (result ) round 1: 3rd week, June
  • Mock seat allocation ( result ) round 2: 3rd week, June
  • Last date ( choice filling & registration ): 3rd week, June
  • Declaration: round 1 (seat allocation ): 4th week, June
  • Seat Allotment: round 2: 1st week, July
  • Round 3: 2nd week, July
  • Round 4: 2nd week, July
  • Round 5: 2nd week, July
  • Round 6: 3rd week, July
  • Round 7: 3rd week, July

Below mentioned are the steps/procedure for the counselling process

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit JoSAA website:
  • Enter your JEE Main 2020 Application Number,& Password ( Interface / Log in Page )
  • Click the I Agree Upon once you complete reading the instructions
  • Confirm Registration once you fill the form ( Review the completed form once again and confirm )

Step 2: Locking & Choice filling ( Lock your college & Course preferences)

Note: Seats shall be allotted based on the availability

  • Select the College and course of your choice in the online form
  • Candidates are provided with the option for Edit and delete
  • Lock your choice after a thorough verification
  • You have the preference of locking the choice post each round of counselling

Step 3: Seat Allotment: This is one of the crucial processes in the procedure.

Note: Seat shall be allotted according to your ranks obtained in JEE2

  • The admissions shall be offered based on the JEE (AIR) and the choices filled by you
  • This would be a crucial time towards making your choices on branches in online
  • Documents shall be verified at the time of admission process/ seat allocation
  • The conducting authority at this time shall verify your records for:
    • Age
    • Qualifying examination ( JEE-2)
    • Category & disability of the candidate
    • State of Eligibility
    • Admission shall be refused for any candidate who failed to provide any related documents at this stage
    • All candidates belonging to minority /category would need to provide the original certificate as per prescribed norms of the competent authority at this stage

Step 4: Payment of JEE Counselling Fees

Counselling fees

  • Rs 20,000 : SC/ ST/ ST-PwD/ SC-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD/ GEN-PwD
  • Rs 45,000: Other candidates
  • This stage includes candidates to confirm the seats by initiating the payment
  • The payment can be done through Net banking or E challan
  • A provisional admission letter shall be issued to the candidate once documents are verified and fee payment
  • Provisions are included at this stage for any candidate found to be non-satisfied. Provisions included are provided below
  • Float
  • Freeze
  • Slide
  • Withdraw

Step 5: Reporting to the centre for verification of the document

This step is another crucial step in this process. All candidates should ensure that they carry all Original certificates/ documents during counselling. Any avoidance of producing original documents at this stage shall lead towards cancellation of your admission. Documents required to be carried at this stage include: –

    • JEE MAIN Admit card 2020
    • Provisional JEE MAIN seat allotment result
    • JEE MAIN 2020 Scorecard
    • 3 Passport Size Photograph ( as uploaded in the web site)
    • Photo Identity card
    • Mark sheet of class 12th
    • Any category certificate

Stage 6: The candidate has to report to the allotted institute and remit the balance fees as prescribed


Eligibility criteria are one of the most factored in during the admission process.

Eligibility towards B. Arch should have to pass the qualifying exam (12th std) with 50 % in Maths, Physics and Chemistry along with 50% of aggregate in the qualifying exam.

An ideal score however according to my experience suggests a minimum of 75 % and above in both individual subjects and as aggregate shall surely determine you better chances
